Our Eternal Family

I didn't blog this on our actual anniversary, but April 19 marked the 1-year anniversary of my and Devin's sealing in the Mesa Temple. Little Sam was there, too- he was 11 weeks along in my belly. I remember thinking I was so big and fat already...oh skinny Allison. If you only knew what was coming...


I always tell Devin that I love him so much I married him twice. I am so grateful that we made the goal of going to the temple and made it happen. I love knowing that the 3 of us are sealed for eternity. How amazing is it to be a part of Christ's church?

We are finally healthy here at our house, but unfortunately not before we spread our germs across the country. Grandma and Grandpa Gerber got sick a few days after our visit to Utah, and Grandma Barry is just getting over her bout with the stomach flu. We realize now that we should have just turned around when I got sick on the road...WE FEEL HORRIBLE. :(

I can't find my phone anywhere

I can't find my phone, and it's turned on silent so I can't even find it by calling myself.

Utah

We went to Utah this past week/weekend! It was great. Utah is amazing. The mountains are so huge, I have to keep looking at them to make sure I'm not seeing things. We stayed at Grandma Barry's. She is so sweet! I always knew she was cool, but this trip gave me the opportunity to talk to her more than I ever have. I genuinely like her as a person.
We of course saw my loves...Selena, Amy, Jessica, and their spouses/kids. I miss my friends!!! Our time was filled with hanging out, eating out, tons of Selena pictures, snowboarding (for the boys), shopping (for the girls), a scenic drive up Provo Canyon, Signs, and much, much more.

5 months already

Well here we are at another month, and my sweet baby is yet another month older. Sam is truly the light of my life. He makes me so fulfilled and complete. I get crying-feelings at least once a day while I am holding him. He is such a special boy! Ok enough of the maternal mushy junk...

Sam's personality is starting to show through more and more each day. He is a funny boy. He LOVES his daddy. Devin can make him laugh so hard...it makes me pretty jealous. Sam loves Dixie. He constantly searches for her when he sees her leave the room, and pulls at her tail when she passes by. He is close to sitting up by himself, but isn't quite there yet. I love him so much!

Taco Bell Poop

You read that right, Taco Bell poop. Samothy just had a blowout in his diaper that shot up his onesie, then smeared up his arm as I transferred him to the changing table. No big deal, poo happens, but the gross part is that it smelled exactly like a 7-layer burrito from Taco Bell (I have a keen sense of gross Mexican food smell because I worked there for 2 1/2 years). I transferred Sam to the bath, then came back to the changing table to find the diaper dismembered on his bedroom floor. Here is the guilty-looking Dixie after I punished her in the kennel.

A Possible Solution

My faithful blog readers know that little Sam has
an issue with spitting-up. He spits-up a LOT. Well, my milk supply has been kind of low this past week, so I tried giving Sam formula (I've been mixing it with about 1 oz. of breastmilk so he will actually drink it). Not only does Sam DOWN the formula, it has actually seemed to drastically cut down on the amount he spits up. Today I was feeling bad about giving him formula while I am still capable of nourishing him with just my breastmilk, so I nursed him one feeding and fed him a bottle the next feeding. Both times, he spit-up huge amounts. I think this may be the end of nursing him. It makes me really sad and depressed, which is not expected because I have always thought breastfeeding was a little creepy :)

So yeah- that's the update on sweet Sam. He is also making the cutest sounds (see video).

Devin and I went on our first date in 3 months last night, thanks to my mom and dad who watched Sam for us. We went to The Cheescake Factory and then saw a ridiculous movie called The Haunting in Connecticut. It was pretty cheesy. I tried getting in to it and being scared, but it didn't work. But being out on a date was great. I love Devin.

Leigh Ann's Little Bundle

Leigh Ann's little baby was born yesterday! He came 4 weeks early and weighed 6 lbs. 14 oz. (I think). I went to see him today. He is so tiny and sweet, and Leigh Ann looks amazing.

The Past 2 Weeks

Notice Brooklynn's grumpy face (she and Greg were in a bit of a tiff) On Saturday we babysat Abbie and Owen while my parents and Becca moved into their new house. Devin and I are NOT ready for more kids!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was hard work taking care of the 3 of them.
