The Past 2 Weeks

Scottee's cute kids on the way to the Barry Girls' Day outing. Way to go, Treslee, for getting us all together.Leigh Ann and Curtis had us over for dinner. Leigh Ann is so cute. Here she is holding Sam, who happened to be sneezing in this picture.

And here is Sam sucking on Chase's hands. Is it just me or don't they appear to be bonding?Sam's favorite sleeping positionat Stacie's house to meet Josie May. She is so sweet, and MJ knew my name!!!not sure why this is sideways, but here is Sam sucking on Josie's hand. This is his favorite pasttime.Greg, Alli, and Brooklynn came over to play our new favorite game, Mow. Notice Brooklynn's grumpy face (she and Greg were in a bit of a tiff) On Saturday we babysat Abbie and Owen while my parents and Becca moved into their new house. Devin and I are NOT ready for more kids!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was hard work taking care of the 3 of them.

yeah I don't know how to get rid of this big space here...

We have been Topped!

Even if you have no idea who Selena is, please go and look at her blog. NOW! She and her husband, along with Amy and her husband, made a HI-LARIOUS video that does, in fact, leave The Barrys "in their dust."

The World's Best Grandmother

I have the best grandmother in the world.

My Maw-Maw has been one of my all-time best friends for my entire life. Growing up in Georgia, I would always have sleepovers at her and Paw-Paw's house. She used to work at Sears, and when she would come home from work she would always bring me a new Barbie. She loved me even though I could be bratty (for example, greeting her and then asking, "where's my Barbie?" or making her take me home one time because they didn't have good food to eat).

Even after I moved to Arizona at age 8, she didn't let that have a negative impact on our relationship. My sisters and I always got letters from her weekly if not more often. I don't think I've ever gone more than a week without talking to her on the phone. She and Paw-Paw would come and stay at our hot house (old people don't really enjoy the AZ heat) for months at a time and still do (They stayed at our house for over a month when Sam was born). Most people would say, "Oh wow...that must be awful to have houseguests at your house for so long!" Not really with Maw-Maw and Paw-Paw. They did more for us while they were here than we did for them. Paw-Paw cooked every meal and Maw-Maw was my constant companion.

I went to Mississippi State University for 3 semesters. I didn't like it that much to say the least. I was lonely and far far away from my family and friends. Maw-Maw and Paw-Paw drove from Atlanta to Mississippi to be with me on my birthdays. They also drove all the way there, picked me up and brought me to Atlanta for Thanksgiving, and then drove me back to school (twice). When I couldn't get a ride to the airport to go home for Christmas (nearest aiport is in Birmingham, AL), guess who volunteered to get me there. The whole time I was in Mississippi, I was constantly flooded with care packages and letters from them.

When I became LDS, and my whole family was not very happy with me (putting it pretty lightly), Maw-Maw was STILL in my corner, talking me through how to deal with my family and telling me that she would never stop loving me, letting me know she trusted my judgment, and, in her words, (please read the following in a thick southern accent), "Well, the most important thang is faith in our Lord Jesus, so if He's still you're focus I don't see anythang wrong with that."

I just got off the phone with Maw-Maw a few minutes ago, which is why I'm so obsessed with her at the moment. I was feeling bad about something, and just talking with her about it made me feel so much better.

I hope I will be as good a grandmother to Sam's kids as she is to me. I guess I should concentrate on being a good mom first...

All my posts are about Sam

I was just looking at Stacie's blog and she has the sweetest pictures of her newborn, Josie May. It made me sad that Sam is already so big so I had to look at his brand new pictures.
This picture of Devin is so sweet. It makes me want to go back to our dating days just so I can ask him to marry me.

me and Sam are siiiiiiiick :(

Does anyone remember on Full House how whenever one of the girls was sick they'd say, "I'm siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick?" That show still shapes my life.

I have been sick since last Tuesday! I am pretty sick of it (haha get it?). I thought I could make it through church yesterday, but ended up sweating/chilling in the mothers' room halfway through sacrament, so I went home and slept. Devin stayed with Sam the rest of the time! He was apprehensive about being there with Sam alone, but he did a great job. Thanks for letting me sleep, Dev.

Then this morning at 4, Sam woke up and was really hot. He had a 101 degree fever and had a really deep-sounding cough. The fever and cough are currently gone, but he has been a TRIP today. So yeah. This is a boring post, but I feel depressed because I haven't accomplished anything, let alone even get dressed today.

Happy Weekend

This weekend was such a happy, busy one. Liz and Daniel's reception was Friday night.Sam was pretty fussy that night. He had already "douched" my skirt by the time we had been there 5 minutes ("douched" is Devin's term for Sam's frequent spit-ups).Two of my favorite girls...Brenda and Brooklynn
(below) Two of the Sorensen boys. The one on the left is single, ladies!
And here is Mr. Sorensen himself. He offerred to feed Sam for me! According to Doug, Sam is his "surrogate grandson." I knew I'd make it into that family somehow. And here she is, folks, the greatest Sorensen of them all!!!!!! My love Selena! She hates this picture...haha.

"Wow, we have good jawlines in that picture."

"Let's try that again!" Definitely didn't work on try #2.

The Loves.

KAREN lives!

Saturday I went over to Selena's parents house. Selena took pictures of my sweet, smiley Sam, who wasn't so smiley at all during his photoshoot. Afterward we went to Red Robin, where Sam cried for the whole car the entire drive home. That's my boy!

Now this is love. Why are we separated???

This isn't edited or anything, so don't feel pressure to watch it.

Later that night Devin and I attended Brooklynn's Dora Movie Premiere. I've got to say, Brooklynn is one talented, smart, hilarious cookie! She and her friends made a FULL LENGTH movie! It was seriously so funny. I'd like to own it once it comes out on DVD.

Sam took a 3 hour nap while we were over there. Devin and I made a little music video while we waited for him to wake up. I'll edit it and get it on here asap- it's a good one.

Congratulations Stacie and Merritt!

Stacie (Roberts) Aho had her baby early this morning! Stacie is my oldest friend. She and I have been buds since 8th grade, when I thought she was a snob because our chorus teacher used her as an example of how to "breathe correctly when singing." She is also the first Mormon person I ever knew, and if it weren't for that friendship, I wouldn't be a member of this church, wouldn't be married to sweet Devin, wouldn't have all my best friends, wouldn't have my darling Sam...!!! You were an integral part of my life, Stacie! You still are, but you know what I mean :) I thought it would be fun to post some old and embarrassing pictures her and I to honor all of her hard work (home birth, no meds...she is a soldier!).
