Life

So here is what's been going on in our lives the past 2 weeks.

We kind of hate Dixie. She has been such a brat ever since we got George, and now that George is gone, her bad behavior is still hanging around. Devin redid our entire backyard recently, adding grass and 3 trees. Dumb Dixie has dug up 2 of the trees (I'm talking roots and all), and dug a huge hole in the middle of the grass. Contrary to what our past actions have said about us, we are not going to get rid of her. We have had her since before we got married, and she is a part of our family. I definitely just said that about a dog. But really though, Sam might go into a deep depression if Dixie was no more.

I am doing what I do best during pregnancy and packing on the weight. I haven't weighed myself in a couple of weeks, but it is safe to say I've gained 20+ lbs. Yep, I'm only 5 months along.

Speaking of packing on the weight, I've decided to eat "God-made" again. I am so excited about this. (Yes, it is safe to start this again even though I'm pregnant...I discussed it with my doctor. He said ideally every pregnant woman should be eating that way). This morning Sam and I went to Sprouts to stock up on fruit and vegetables. I think this is going to be a good thing.

After Sprouts we went to Fry's since they had mangos on sale 2 for $1. What a rip. The mangos were all very small and shriveled. Sam was close to being fed up with being in the shopping cart, so I put him in one of those race car ones. He was the happiest boy alive. He was screaming "WEEEEE!" every time I'd turn on a different aisle. He is so much fun. As we were checking out we had a very chatty bag boy, probably about 16 or 17 years old. He was talking about the new Nightmare on Elm Street movie. As soon as he brought it up I had this tiny feeling that I needed to mention the Church to him. My first thought was, "dangit." Then I thought, "Well, I can tell him I don't watch rated-R movies because I'm Mormon...?" As I was thinking and putting my groceries on the conveyor belt the chatty bag boy had moved on to another subject. He was talking about his favorite author, Dan Koonitz, I think? and telling me that he tells EVERYONE he meets about him because he's such a great writer. As I was putting my receipt away I finally got brave and said, "You know what you should read? The Book of Mormon." He gave me a little laugh and a look that said "Yeah right." Luckily my turn in line was over. After an awkward, "Well, see ya!" Sam and I wheeled away to our big blue truck. Sam had a meltdown as I put him in the car seat because I was taking him away from the race car cart. This was his worst public tantrum to date. People were staring.

The gospel is true and I love it.

The End.

p.s.
I have a theory that after you become a stay-at-home mom, all your adventures happen at the grocery store. Today reaffirmed that theory.

Wow. I loved that. You are so real, and so great!

I am SO amazed at your courage to tell that boy what's up! Seriously. Amazing. You would have served an awesome mission, I'm sure... but I guess you are doing it now :)

Meltdowns are fabulous, makes you feel really cool in public, huh?

Yep! It's true.

I wish I could have see his little boy face in there. I bet he was so happy.

Haha I wen to Fry's on Monday too- I think I got the same bag boy-- more talkative than anyone I've met in a long time.
Parker loves those carts, when we pull up to Walmart he gets mad because he would rather go to Fry's for the cars.

Speaking of Walmart- that's the magic of doing Price match through walmart- you can go get good produce at the crappy produce price.... seriously- I LOVE IT

You are such a great writer Allison! I can picture Sam in the grocery CAR, having the time of his life! I agree with you on adventures in the grocery store. I remember having some of those 'happy' experiences!

Darn Dixie. Can the trees be saved?

Dixie! That's so sad abour your yard. Devin has been working so hard on it too.
I don't think 20 lbs is bad. Your more than half way so if you double that weight, your still only at 40 lbs..not bad.
And way to go for your missionary work. You started a seed in him.
I haven't been brave enough to venture out to the grocery store yet.Maybe I'll have to use the car cart even though they are huge!
Love you Allison!
