I have been fighting with my darn lawn for months now, just trying to get it to grow. As you know, Devin is MIA a lot of the time since he is working hard at cleaning carpets. I have been responsible for keeping up the yard work. Yeah it looks awful.
Anyway, I am proud of myself that I figured out how to turn on the lawnmower and actually use it! I did not have a good attitude about it though. I was grumpy that I had to mow the lawn in the first place. I was grumpy that it was so stinking hot outside (it is mid-October!!!). I was grumpy that I could hear Mollie crying from her bedroom window, refusing to take her morning nap (this was before I turned on the noisy mower). I was grumpy that my too-big glasses kept sliding down my sweaty face.
After wallowing in the grumps for a bit, I couldn't help but think about The Family: A Proclamation to The World.. In this proclamation, we are told of the responsibilities of husbands and wives in respect to taking care of their families. We are also told that if circumstances change, husbands and wives should help each other out in any way possible.
Of course these are all things most of us know and believe, but sometimes it's easy to forget. Especially when you are grumpy and outside doing man work.
I'm glad that I have Devin who is willing to work 12+ hour days to provide for us, and I know Devin is glad that he has a wife that has mad landscaping skills. Even if outside does make me grumpy.

oh man!!!! Landscaping isn't the funnest to do...you beat me in the fact you have turned on a lawnmower...still haven't done it! I am sure the yard looks fabulous now :)
I remember mowing the lawn at like 10 years old. I thought it was fun but my brother or dad came and took over. We had a huge yard with grass and they must have had pity on me even though I was enjoying myself. Now don't tell Ryan that or he'd probably except me to mow the lawn too. haha (It's probably not as fun now that we're older and responsible) I don't think I'd even be able to start a lawnmower. Good job Allison!
Way to go Allison, I'm also one of those who have never mowed a lawn. It was always the boys job growing up. In a way I guess that's kinda sad. You're the Woman!!! You go girl!
Good job woMAN!
this post was extremely funny. i'm proud of you. I get very grumpy doing boy chores too! it's sooooo not fun. I think I have refused to mow the lawn as well. and take out the trash.
